Following a report of a yacht with engine failure, the inshore lifeboat was brought to immediate readiness, but was later stood down.

The inshore lifeboat was tasked along with a local coast patrol to swimmers reported to be in difficulty off the Felixstowe Coast. As the inshore lifeboat arrived just off Felixstowe beach, the lifeboat was stood down and released to return to station. The coast patrol had escorted the swimmers to safety.

After initially being tasked to a yacht requiring assistance further up the coast, the all weather lifeboat was re-tasked to a different yacht closer to Harwich harbour, also requiring assistance in the windy conditions. The vessel was taken in tow and towed to the safety of Shotley Marina. Aldeburgh's all weather lifeboat was also launched to assist the yacht that Harwich were initially being tasked to. Later in the evening, that yacht was also towed safely in to Harwich harbour, and delivered to Shotley Marina.

The inshore lifeboat was launched to assist with an incident in the river Deben. While on the way to the scene, the lifeboat was stood down and released to return to station.

Third tasking of the day for the inshore lifeboat. A yacht aground at Landguard required assistance. On arrival at the scene, a tow was established and the vessel was towed in to deeper water. After escorting the yacht in to the harbour, the lifeboat was released to return to station.

The pagers were activated for the second launch of the day for the inshore lifeboat at 4:43pm, to an incident in Dovercourt Bay. The launch was cancelled at 4:46pm.

ILB launched as part of a multi agency response to a vessel aground after experiencing mechanical issues in Hamford Water with 27 persons on board. All of the passengers from the vessel were evacuated and transferred to the Walton and Frinton all weather lifeboat for onward passage to Harwich. The transfer was carried out by a number of vessels including Walton's Y-Boat, and Pioneer Sailing trust. Coastguard Rescue teams had also been sent to the scene. East of England Ambulance Service (including HART), Essex and Herts Air Ambulance, and Essex Police were all in attendance at Harwich. An excellent multi agency turn out.

21st July 2018

A capsized dinghy with a person in the water sparked the launch of the inshore lifeboat. A passing vessel recovered the individual from the water before the lifeboat was on scene. On arrival at the scene, the person and dinghy were taken back towards Bradfield, safe and well. After a short row ashore, the person was met by a Coastguard Rescue Team.

Both lifeboats were requested to launch due to a large fire close to Pin Mill on the river Orwell. The lifeboats were requested to standby in case it became necessary to evacuate occupants from moored houseboats. The lifeboats were later stood down.

A 33ft yacht aground on Andrews Spit required assistance from the inshore lifeboat. A tow was established and the vessel was towed in to deeper water. After releasing the tow, the vessel was able to continue its onward passage in to the river Orwell without further assistance.

A second launch of the day for the inshore lifeboat was requested to locate a further vessel that had doubts/concerns over its position and required assistance. The vessel was located close to the Walton Backwater and was taken in tow to Titchmarch marina.

The inshore lifeboat was launched to a broken down speed boat, with concerns over it also becoming a danger to navigation in the main channel. It later came to light that the vessel's actual position was unclear. The vessel was located towards Walton Backwater and was towed to Titchmarsh marina.

A possible swimmer in difficulty in Dovercourt Bay lead to the crew being paged for a launch of the inshore lifeboat. The launch was cancelled a few minutes later.

The inshore lifeboat was requested to go to the assistance of a capsized dinghy with a person in the water. The inshore lifeboat was stood down on launching. Another resource was nearby and was investigating.

The inshore lifeboat was launched to a person in the water close to Harwich International Port. The person had been recovered from the water by another vessel. The decision was taken to transfer the individual to the lifeboat and land them at Harwich lifeboat station where they were passed in to the care of the Ambulance service.

A request to launch the inshore lifeboat was received after a dinghy was thought to be in difficulty off Felixstowe. The lifeboat was stood down during the launch. An update from the first informant confirmed the dinghy was not in difficulty. The call had been made with good intent.

A yacht that had lost its rudder lead to the launch of the inshore lifeboat. Despite the sunshine, conditions were challenging with the easterly wind. The vessel was towed to Shotley marina.

A vessel aground at the entrance of the river Deben lead to an early morning launch of the inshore lifeboat. With the tide still falling, it was not possible to immediately re-float the vessel. The occupants were comfortable to await the next tide to re-float.

The inshore lifeboat was launched in the early hours of Tuesday for a missing person search. The lifeboat was stood down a short while later as the person had been found in a safe location.

The inshore lifeboat was to a possible Kayaker in difficulty. The Kayaker did not require assistance. The call had been made with good intent. While returning to station, the inshore lifeboat checked on a yacht that was aground close to Shotley marina. No assistance was required.

An early start to Father's Day and the third call in less than 12hrs for the crew. The inshore lifeboat was launched to a vessel on the river Orwell with a person on board suffering chest pains. Casualty Care was provided and the vessel and occupant were taken to Woolverstone Marina where they were met by the Ambulance service and Holbrook Coastguard Rescue Team.

The inshore lifeboat was launched to the vessel that had gone aground earlier in the day. The lifeboat provided safety cover while the vessel refloated and was towed to safety by the Assistant Felixstowe Ferry Harbour Master.

The inshore lifeboat was launched to a vessel aground at the entrance of the river Deben. On arrival at the scene, the vessel was found to be aground but safe. The vessel's occupants set the anchor and were happy to await the next tide.

The inshore lifeboat was launched to a vessel aground in thick fog, just inside the river Deben. The Assistant Felixstowe Ferry Harbour, Stephen Read, agreed to standby the vessel and await the incoming tide. The lifeboat was released to return to station.

The first call out for Harwich's new Atlantic 85 B-Class inshore lifeboat, B907. The inshore lifeboat took part in an extensive multi agency search in the Earlhams area for an individual. The person was located ashore, away from the water.

Second launch of the day for the all weather lifeboat. A vessel had broken down in thick fog off the Suffolk coast. The vessel was towed to the safety of Shotley marina.

The all weather lifeboat was launched to a vessel taking on water outside the harbour. On arrival at the vessel, it was found to be making progress under its own power in to the harbour. The all weather lifeboat escorted the vessel to Shotley marina.

The inshore lifeboat was requested to launch to a Jet Ski in the Felixstowe Ferry and Bawdsey area. The launch was cancelled while the crew were arriving at the lifeboat station.

The all weather lifeboat was launched to a yacht off the Felixstowe coast with a rope around its prop/rudder. The Y-Boat was deployed to allow the crew to get safe access to cut the rope and free the yacht. A tow was then established and the yacht was taken safely to Shotley marina.

While the crew were gathered at Harwich Town Sailing Club for a crew meeting due to ongoing boathouse works, the pagers were activated for a launch of the inshore lifeboat to an incident at the Orwell Bridge. The lifeboat was later stood down and the crew meeting was resumed.

The inshore lifeboat was launched to a dinghy adrift in the river Orwell. The dinghy was quickly located by the inshore lifeboat and taken in tow to Suffolk Yacht Harbour. Confirmation was received that the dinghy had come from another vessel and was unoccupied with nobody missing.

An early evening launch of the all weather lifeboat to assist a yacht requiring a tow to safety. Another vessel initially had the yacht in tow, and on arrival at the scene, the lifeboat took over the tow. The yacht was towed to Harwich.

The inshore lifeboat was launched and the all weather lifeboat was brought to immediate readiness after a Jet Skier had been injured out at the Cork Sand. The Jet Skier had a dislocated shoulder and was in the water. A local fishing vessel was first on scene to assist the well equipped, well prepared group of Jet Skiers. When the lifeboat arrived on scene, the person was recovered on to the lifeboat for the passage back to Harwich. The individual was landed at the Port of Felixstowe in to the care of an Ambulance crew.

The all weather lifeboat was launched to a broken down yacht at Wrabness. On arrival at the scene, a tow was established and the vessel was taken safely to Shotley Marina.

The inshore lifeboat was requested to launch to a Kite Surfer off Felixstowe. The launch was cancelled a short time later.

11th April 2018

Both lifeboats were launched to a vessel with three persons on board, taking on water close to Felixstowe Ferry, just inside the river Deben. The Felixstowe Ferry Harbour Master was also made aware of the incident and provided assistance. The lifeboats made their way to the scene as quickly as was possible, a slower speed than normal due to the very poor visibility. The all weather lifeboat stood by just outside the river and the inshore lifeboat continued to Felixstowe Ferry for a welfare check. All persons were safe and well, the vessel had been towed to safety and the Coastguard Rescue Team were in attendance. The lifeboats were released to return to station.

During the evening of Easter Sunday, the crew were paged for a launch of the all weather lifeboat to assist a broken down yacht. The vessel was taken in tow to Shotley Marina.

Final preparations were being made on Saturday afternoon for the annual Harwich RNLI Dinner and Dance when the pagers sounded for a launch of the all weather lifeboat. The launch was for a medevac from a container ship. One individual was transferred to the lifeboat and taken back to the Port of Felixstowe for onward journey to hospital. The lifeboat returned to station and an enjoyable evening was had by all.

A broken down vessel requiring assistance lead to the pagers being activated for a launch of the all weather lifeboat. The launch was later cancelled. Another lifeboat stationed closer to the reported position was tasked to assist.

While washing down and refuelling the inshore lifeboat after a previous service call was being completed, the lifeboat was requested to launch again, but this time to a vessel adrift in Harwich harbour. With the vessel presenting a danger to navigation, it was taken in tow and moored safely.

The inshore lifeboat was launched to a person in the water at Dovercourt Bay. While on the way to the scene, the lifeboat was stood down. The person was out of the water and in the care of other emergency services.

A person in the water at Ha'Penny Pier, Harwich lead to the inshore lifeboat being requested to launch. The launch was cancelled a short time later as the person had thankfully been recovered from the water.

23rd January 2018

The pagers were activated at 9.25pm on Tuesday 23 January, requesting the launch on the inshore lifeboat. A broken down fishing boat close to the Guard buoy required assistance. On arrival at the vessel, a tow was established and the vessel was taken safely to Ha'Penny Pier, Harwich. By 10.25pm, the lifeboat was back at station to be recovered, refuelled, washed down and made ready for service.

18th January 2018

The first call of 2018 for Harwich RNLI came at 3.00pm on 18 January. A person in the water at Felixstowe Ferry lead to the lifeboat being requested. While the crew were responding to the pager call, the pagers sounded again just a few minutes later cancelling the launch. The lifeboat was not required.
